On Sunday, August 9, 2026, the Washington, D.C. Chapter of The Global Hindu Heritage Foundation (GHHF) hosted a landmark advocacy conference and signature dinner at A2B (645 Elden St, Herndon, VA 20170) that ignited hearts, strengthened bonds, and set a bold vision for the future. Community leaders, advocates, and dedicated volunteers gathered to honor a powerful dual milestone: the 250th anniversary of America—the world’s oldest democracy—and the 80th Independence Day of India—the world’s largest democracy.

Under the unifying theme “Freedom, Advocacy, Volunteerism & Mainstream Integration into the American Mosaic,” the evening celebrated shared democratic ideals, civic unity, cultural pride, and the unstoppable force of youth empowerment.

The event was powerfully led by Shri Rajesh Gooty, Founder, President, and CEO of Lead America Foundation, with keynote remarks by Dr. Prakasarao Velagapudi, PhD, President and founder of GHHF.

Since launching GHHF in 2006, Dr. Velagapudi has transformed the organization into a global champion with more than 16 flagship programs spanning temple preservation, courtroom advocacy, girl-child education, and community welfare. His unwavering commitment has protected heritage, empowered the vulnerable, and inspired action across continents.

A defining moment of the evening came when Shri Rajesh Gooty presented Dr. Prakasarao Velagapudi with the Lead America Community Champion Award , recognizing decades of visionary service in building inclusive communities and championing youth across leadership, education, advocacy, and diversity.

In a deeply personal tribute, Gooty—calling Dr. Velagapudi his “friend, philosopher, and guide”—presented an official U.S. Capitol-flown American Flag, accompanied by a letter of authenticity. The flag was flown over the U.S. Capitol in honor of Dr. Velagapudi’s extraordinary leadership and the 20th anniversary of the Global Hindu Heritage Foundation, perfectly timed with America’s 250th anniversary celebrations.
