[GHHF] A Landmark Victory in the Supreme Court: GHHF’s Strategic Legal Triumph Against Deceptive Conversions

In 2021, the Global Hindu Heritage Foundation (GHHF) identified a systematic attempt to undermine Hindu cultural integrity in Kothapalem Village, Guntur District. Rajesh Thunuguntla, National Secretary of the Global Hindu Heritage Foundation in Bharat and a member of the Board of Directors of GHHF in the USA, visited the village along with his friend Harsha after receiving information from Murali. They met a local resident, Rami Reddy, who strongly opposed the Pastor Chinthada Anand’s efforts to carry out forced and illegal conversions and construct a Church in the village.

Rami Reddy resisted the Pastor’s attempts, particularly when the Pastor tried to encroach upon his private property to build the Church. In retaliation, the Pastor filed a false Atrocities Case against Rami Reddy by claiming Scheduled Caste (SC) status, even though he had already declared himself as a practicing Christian in official documents.

Rami Reddy approached the police first and filed a complaint regarding illegal encroachment. However, in a clear act of bias and manipulation, the police altered the filing sequence—registering the Pastor’s complaint as Case No. 8 and Rami Reddy’s complaint as Case No. 9. This deliberate tampering led to the wrongful arrest and imprisonment of Rami Reddy.

Further irregularities surfaced when the MRO issued an SC certificate to the Pastor, despite him not residing in the village and being a practicing Christian. Shockingly, even the SC Commission directed authorities to proceed with an atrocities case against Rami Reddy, exposing systemic bias against the Hindu community.

Recognizing the injustice, GHHF took full responsibility for the legal battle. Rajesh Thunuguntla personally led and supported the case, providing continuous financial and moral assistance to Rami Reddy.

On April 30, 2025, the High Court of Andhra Pradesh delivered a landmark judgment stating that individuals who practice Christianity are not eligible to claim Scheduled Caste status. As a result, the false atrocities case filed by the Pastor was quashed, marking a major legal victory.

Following the judgment, GHHF symbolically reinforced Hindu presence by installing an Anjaneya Swamy (Hanuman) idol on the disputed property on October 25, 2025. However, this triggered violent retaliation from the opposing group. Rami Reddy was brutally attacked, suffered serious injuries, and was hospitalized in Guntur for a week. During this period, despite the High Court’s ruling, biased local authorities again subjected him to harassment, including temporary incarceration. GHHF stood firmly by him, covering medical expenses and extending full support.

The Pastor challenged the High Court verdict in the Supreme Court of India. GHHF, under the leadership of Rajesh Thunuguntla, mounted a strong legal defense. On March 24, 2026, the Supreme Court delivered its final judgment in Criminal Appeal No. 1580 of 2026, affirming that:

The Pastor had been openly practicing Christianity for several years.

As per the Constitution (Scheduled Castes) Order, 1950, SC status is applicable only to Hindus, Sikhs, and Buddhists.

Misuse of SC status by Christian converts to file atrocities cases is legally invalid and an abuse of the judicial process.

This case is not just a local dispute but a historic legal victory for GHHF and the Hindu community. It highlights serious lapses by authorities, including the wrongful issuance of SC certificates, police bias, and misuse of legal provisions.

GHHF remains committed to pursuing further legal action against officials and individuals responsible for violating the law and harassing innocent citizens. Despite lack of support from successive governments, GHHF continues to stand firmly for justice, constitutional integrity, and the protection of Hindu rights.
