Ethos Foundation and Richwoods Community in Frisco Texas organized Diwali celebrations attended by more than 400 people. The occasion was filled with a number of cultural activities where many youngsters demonstrated their talent by performing dances and singing.
Two proclamations recognizing the contributions of Hindu Community was issued by Matta Shaheen and another one by Keresa Richardson. Mrs. Richardson read the Proclamation on the stage in the presence of Chris Hill, the Collin County Judge since 2018, Police Department from Frisco, Prakasarao Velagapudi, Muniraj Janagarajan , Srikant Konda Reddy and others.
Kond Srikant Reddy who worked hard to make the Diwali function a great success, expressed his heartfelt thanks for issuing the Proclamation for Diwali Awareness Day on October 20, 2025. He said that their recognition of this important festival is a meaningful gesture that honors the traditions, heritage, and contributions of Indian Americans across Texas. He was grateful for the two House of Representatives for their leadership and for taking the time to celebrate and spotlight a festival cherished by so many families. He said that their generosity and engagement will make a lasting impact on Hindu community.
Diwali symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness and hopes over adversity, and your support helps elevate that message of unity, peace, and cultural understanding. By acknowledging Diwali in such an official and public way, you are helping foster inclusivity and strengthening the bonds within our diverse communities.
Speaking on the occasion, Prakasarao Velagapudi, President of Global Hindu Heritage Foundation, talked about the significance of Diwali and why do we celebrate. He mentioned that on this day, Lord Ram, Ma Sita and Lakshman returned to Ayodhya after vanquishing Ravana and conquering Lanka. The citizens of Ayodhya decorated the entire city with the earthen lamps and illuminated it like never before. Also, Pandavas appeared from their 12 years of banishment because of their defeat in the hands of the Kauravas at the game of dice (gambling). The subjects who loved the Pandavas celebrated the day by lighting the earthen lamps. It is also to celebrate the birth of Goddess Lakshmi Devi.
The proclamations recognized the contribution of Indian Americans for greatly enriching the area’s cultural, civic, and economic activity; for embracing the values of mutual respect and harmony, for stressing the essential role of the family in building a strong community foundation, for sharing a rich cultural heritage that strengthens the diversity and vibrancy of the Collin county, and for instilling moral character in the next generation to prepare them as good citizens and effective leaders.
We all want to thank Konda Srikant Reddy and his team for organizing the Diwali, the festival of Light, getting the whole community involved, giving opportunity for children to demonstrate their talents on the stage and providing an occasion for people to meet as a Hindu community.
Wishing a very Diwali to all.
