An Indian family’s call to end hate and embrace our shared Frisco home
As a proud Indian resident of Frisco, Texas, living here on an H1B visa with my family, I feel compelled to speak out about the ugly incidents unfolding at our city council meetings. We have called this vibrant city home for years now. We celebrate Diwali with lamps and sweets every year, just as we join in the joy of Christmas carols and Halloween trick or treating with our neighbors. Frisco is stronger because of its diversity, yet lately some voices have turned it into a stage for hate.

It started picking up steam earlier this year when folks began showing up at council meetings to rant against Indians. They mock us with fake accents, wave flags while accusing us of takeover through H1B visas, and spread lies about fraud or cultural imposition. I watched in disbelief as one man imitated stereotypes like littering or poor hygiene right there in public. Young Indian Americans like Neha Suratran and Sahas Kaul stepped up bravely. Neha calmly explained that Hinduism does not convert anyone and highlighted how our community contributes with high education and low crime rates. Sahas called it out as a coordinated script by online influencers using Frisco for clicks, not real local gripes. Their words went viral, and they deserve our thanks for keeping dignity alive amid the chaos.

Attacks Beyond Words
The hostility is not stopping at speeches. Racists are now targeting our sacred spaces under the guise of conservative concerns. Just recently, there have been attacks on Hindu temples in Texas, including the Karya Siddhi Hanuman Temple, where vandals struck with hateful graffiti and threats. It shakes us to the core, knowing our places of worship are under siege. Community groups like the Hindu American Foundation and our local Global Hindu Heritage Foundation in Frisco are also facing smears online and protests. Global Hindu Heritage is more than an organization to us, it is family. They support childrens education and spiritual growth back in India, while here in Frisco they run weekend Hinduism classes for our kids to keep our roots strong amid American life. These groups build bridges, yet bigots paint them as threats.

Why This Hurts Our Home
Frisco welcomed us with open arms, from top schools to safe streets we all cherish. My family feels at home celebrating every festival together with friends of all backgrounds. But this wave of mockery and violence disguised as policy talk threatens that. Officials have rightly condemned it, reminding us that to the Indian community, you are home in Frisco. We pay taxes, start businesses, and raise families here. H1B workers like me fill critical tech jobs that help our economy thrive.
I am asking my fellow residents, especially those hiding behind anonymous rage, to meet us as neighbors. Come to a Diwali mela or a Halloween block party. See the real us, not the caricatures. Frisco is not a film set for hate, it is our shared home. Let us protect it together before more temples are hit and more kids fear speaking their heritage. United, we can drown out the noise and keep building this great city.
