“Perfect health, sincerity, honesty, straightforwardness, courage, disinterestedness, unselfishness, patience, endurance, perseverance, peace, calm, self control are all things that are taught infinitely better by example than by beautiful speeches.” Sri Aurobindo (1872-1950)

On Friday, June 16, I visited one of the most beautiful Temples in the South. Jackson, MS is the home of Sri Venkateswara Temple which was completed the first phase in1990. I was fortunate to be one of the nine founding members of Hindu Temple Society of Mississippi. It was started in 1985 and I was fortunate be Founding Chairman of HTSM from 1885 thru 1991. About seven thousand square feet big hall with about ten shrines was built. This is where my spiritual journey started and became active in the preservation and protection of Hindu Dharma. It is here in Jackson, MS, a group concerned Hindus started Global Hindu Heritage Foundation with a mission to preserve and promote and protect Hindu Temples and Hindu culture.

Soon it was realized the need to build a traditional Hindu Temple. I was able to contact Sthapati Subramanian whom I had known for more than 20 years. Contract was signed and about ten shilpis came and completed the traditional Temple. The attached pictures will give you an idea and how beautiful it looks. The uniqueness of the Temple the ceiling inside the Temples. You will see nine rows of distinct images, first of its king in USA. One row, depicts the birds; another musicians, another elephants, another bells, and so on.  The Kumbabhishekam to the second phace of the traditional Temple was completed in 2009. This year the Temple authorities have performed Kumbabhishekam signifying the completion of 12 years.

My religious journey started in Jackson where our family lived more than 35 years and was able to be part of the Temple from its inception until I moved to Frisco TX in 2009.

I am grateful to Parabrahma for all the opportunities provided to me.
