Supporting Temples and Communities
Alongside advocacy, GHHF has undertaken a range of practical community initiatives.

The organization has supported gaushalas in India and continues to support a gaushala in Memphis, Tennessee, housing hundreds of Gir cows. It has also been involved in temple rituals and restoration-related activities, including Maha Kumbabhishekam, homas, and yagas.
In more recent years, its work has included providing sound systems to village temples so that communities can conduct bhajans, satsangs, poojas, and other devotional gatherings.
Other initiatives have focused on distributing pooja kits, supporting priests, and assisting temples in underserved communities.
These projects represent a different dimension of heritage preservation: keeping temples functioning as living community institutions rather than treating them simply as historic structures.
Service During the Pandemic
The COVID-19 pandemic brought an entirely different set of challenges, and GHHF shifted some of its efforts toward humanitarian assistance.During 2020, the organization says it provided continuous Nithya Annadanam to more than 1.5 lakh people across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

It also provided dry-goods supplies to hundreds of priests across several states, financial assistance and sarees to economically vulnerable priest families, and medical equipment including ventilators and oxygen generators to hospitals in different parts of India.
For an organization primarily known for its temple-related advocacy, these efforts demonstrated how its activities could extend into community relief when circumstances demanded it.

Taking Hindu Heritage to a Wider Audience
GHHF has also sought to take discussions around Hindu heritage beyond India.
Its representatives have participated in international Hindu conferences and forums, including events in Bangkok and Taiwan, and have organized programs in the United States focused on Hindu temples and cultural concerns.The organization has also held public meetings and press conferences on issues relating to the protection and sanctity of important Hindu pilgrimage centers.
More recently, much of its public advocacy has focused on Tirumala, Tirupati, and Tiruchanur, with GHHF calling for their recognition as a Punyakshetra—a sacred pilgrimage region—and emphasizing the importance of preserving the religious character of the area.

These campaigns reflect GHHF’s broader belief that temple towns should be approached not merely as tourist or administrative centers, but as living sacred spaces whose cultural and spiritual character deserves protection.
Building a Record of Advocacy

Over the years, GHHF has documented many of its campaigns and correspondence with public authorities. It has also compiled a publication, “Regain the Glory of Hindu Temples,” bringing together a selection of its letters and advocacy efforts.
For an organization that began with a focused concern about temple administration, its activities have gradually expanded into a wider conversation about Hindu heritage—covering temples, sacred landscapes, cultural education, traditional institutions, community service, and public awareness.
Its approach has not always been without controversy, particularly where questions of religious conversion, land use, or the role of different communities intersect with its temple advocacy. But these issues are also part of the larger public debate in which GHHF has chosen to participate.

Looking Ahead
The central question for GHHF remains much the same as when the organization was founded: How can Hindu temples and cultural institutions be preserved as living parts of India’s heritage while ensuring that the communities connected to them have a meaningful voice in their future?

The answer, in GHHF’s view, involves more than preserving buildings.
It involves protecting temple lands, supporting priests and devotees, encouraging younger generations to understand their heritage, maintaining traditional practices, helping neglected temples, and ensuring that Hindu communities remain engaged with their institutions.
After nearly two decades of activity, GHHF’s journey illustrates how heritage preservation can extend from a temple courtyard to a public forum, from a village initiative to an international discussion.Ultimately, the preservation of heritage is not only about looking back at what previous generations built. It is also about deciding what future generations will inherit.
For GHHF, that means preserving sacred spaces, strengthening communities, and keeping the living traditions of Hindu heritage alive for the generations to come.
