[GHHF] Students learned a lesson about the importance of controlling the senses to make the right decision.
One morning, all the children left for School. They missed the lessons given by the teacher. Teacher in class: "Our body, senses, mind, intellect... all these are dependent on each other. Ultimately, it is the soul within us that drives everything,” he said.
Aryan and Pragya are thinking about those words. But Kutil and Maya did not care properly about what those words meant.
On the way to school, they saw a bunch of fruits. The ripe bananas are hanging in groups in that bundle. Their yellow color and sweet smell attracted all the children.
Kutil's eyes looked at the bananas with desire. In his mind, ''Wow! How nice it would be if I ate a banana right now!' He had a strong desire. His hands moved forward to pick up that fruit. Kutil senses are pulling his body towards that desire.
Maya also saw those bananas and said, 'I also want it! Want it now!' I thought in my mind. Her mouth turned watery. Her senses also engulfed her mind.
Aryan also felt like eating bananas. His eyes were on them, his heart desired. But he thought again for a moment. 'I must go to school today. Listen to the lesson. Here, if I am late, the teacher gets angry. Besides, I should eat the food given by our mother? So, his intellect immediately warned him. Aryan controlled his desire. His intelligence controlled his mind and senses.
Pragya also felt like eating a Banana. Her mind and senses said 'eat the fruit'. But she thought with wisdom. It's time to go to school.' It's a waste of money if I look for fruits here, besides, I have a tiffin from home!' Realizing this, she also controlled her desire. Pragya's intellect ruled her senses and her mind.
Kutil and Maya could not control their desires. 'It's just one fruit. I can eat. What will happen?' they thought. Without listening to their senses, they went near the bunch of fruits and ate a banana. After eating the fruit, they reached school late.
In class, the teacher was teaching a vital topic. Aryan and Pragna arrived on time and listened to the lesson attentively. Because they arrived late, Kutil and Maaya missed some parts of the lesson.
After completing the lesson, the teacher asked Kutil and Maya with motherly love. "Why did you come late?" Kutil bowed his head in shame and said, "Teacher, I was surprised to see bananas on the road. After seeing Bananas, I felt like eating. "I couldn't control that desire," he said.
Maya also said, "Yes, teacher, I felt like eating them a lot. My mind didn't listen after seeing the fruits. That's why we are late, she said.
Teacher with a smile on her face, “Students, it is perfect that you admitted your mistake honestly. Now, let me tell you about an important verse from the Bhagavad Gita. Lord Krishna said:
indriyāṇi parāṇy āhur indriyebhyaḥ paraḿ manaḥ
manasas tu parā buddhir yo buddheḥ paratas tu saḥ
“Our mind is greater than our senses, because the mind can control them. The evil, deceitful mind. The fruits attracted his desire, and that desire affected his senses also."
"Our intelligence is greater than our senses. Aryan and Prajna also wanted to eat, but they thought, 'This is not the right time, we have to go now'. Aryan and Pragna controlled their mind and senses. This is true knowledge."
When the mind and intellect are correctly used, they listen to what the soul says. Aryan and Pragna used their intellect, controlling their senses and mind, and their Self-knowledge was displayed; they were able to make the right decision. Kutil and Maya gave up on desires and lost their sense of self."
“If you control your senses, your mind through your intellect, your inner self-knowledge, Shining. Only then will you not fall prey to the crooked and deceitful desires, but the Aryan and wise ones will be right and can take decisions."Kutil and Maya well understood the teacher's words. They realized their mistake.
Key messages:
Children, our senses are greater than our bodies. The mind is greater than the senses. Intelligence is greater than the mind. There is something greater than this intellect, which is the foundation of everything, and that is the actual knowledge within us. We must control our senses, such as our eyes and ears, our mind, and our thoughts (intellect). Only then can we take the right decisions without falling prey to unnecessary desires and can experience enlightenment.
