David Thoreau (1817-1862), American Philosopher, Transcendentalist, and writer:

"In the morning I bathe my intellect in the stupendous and cosmogonal philosophy of the Bhagavad Gita in comparison with which our modern world and its literature seems puny." "What extracts from the Vedas I have read fall on me like the light of a higher and purer luminary, which describes a loftier course through purer stratum. It rises on me like the full moon after the stars have come out, wading through some far stratum in the sky."

Global Hindu Heritage Foundation (GHHF) has organized Sunday School in Madhurawada area in Visakhapatnam. Our Associates Kollu Srinivasa Rau, Santosh (John Paul was his name before he returned to Hinduism), and his friends have been actively involved in coordinating this event.

 Sunday School Initiated in Visakhapatnam

For the last four weeks, they have been conducting Sunday School. The idea came to their mind when they visited a few families on one Sunday. When they were doing Ghar Waapasi , they realized how the Christians are distributing Christian literature near Naga Durga Amma Temple. As it happens to be Sunday, a number of Children were lured to the Church by enticing them with chocolates, pencils, pens, etc. Then our Pracharak Sri Kollu Srinivas Raju decided to test the waters and organized Sunday school about four weeks ago. Last weekend (October 24) he had about thirty students attend the schools.

He has been teaching about the traditions and our customs of our Sanatana Dharma. He mentioned that being a Hindu we have to observe certain things. First as soon as we get up, we need to brush, wash our face, and apply Kumkum on the forehead. Also, he suggested that they should tie raksha all the time.

Every Sunday, he briefly talks about respecting the parents and Gurus. They start with a Prayer and then talk about national heroes who sacrificed their  lives for the country from Muslims and Christians who wanted to convert India into their religion.

He selects one moral story and how we should lead a moral and upright life.

He also briefly gives few examples of our ancient Rishis and their contribution

Chanting of Bhagavad Gita – one to two verses until all of them are able to recite without any prompting.

Few minutes of meditation.

In the next couple of weeks GHHF will develop a course outline for different age groups and hopefully we will start in different locations.

Met a number of Christians and talked about the differences

Sri Srinivas talked about preserving our Sanatana Dharma and explained the scientific nature of Hinduism. They explained that every conceivable discovery was done by our ancient Rishis. Mathematics, infinity, zero, Physics, gravity, dentistry, surgery techniques,  quantum physics and many more. We should take pride in our ancient Hindu Dharma.

They asked them to be cautious of Christian deception and they should guard themselves from the false propaganda. The Christian pastors are following the teachings of Jesus who says that he is a jealous God. But all these Pastors claim that Christianity is a religion of peace. If Jesus is a God and decides our lives, how do we explain the differences among so many Christians. Why some people are poor, and others are rich. Some people have health problems all the time while others live with no major health problems. If Jesus is the savior, why did he create so much disparity in society. If Jesus is compassionate and loving, why is he creating so many problems for so many people even among Christians, Is Jesus a biased, jealous and hateful person?

Bible is full of hateful verses and commands stoning to death their own rebellious children. Fritz Cherry says, “Stoning is a form of capital punishment, and it is still used today in some places. While things like being a rebellious child and being involved in witchcraft are still sins, we are not to stone others to death because we are under a new covenant.”

Hateful Verses

Titus 3:3

For we also once were foolish ourselves, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various lusts and pleasures, spending our life in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another.

Genesis 37:4

His brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his brothers; and so, they hated him and could not speak to him on friendly terms.

Romans 1:29
They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed, and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, and malice. They are gossips,

Many of them asked about the Pastor's assertion that they may be burning eternally in fire if they do not convert to Christianity. Our Associates informed them that God is not a killer and would not punish. God’s character is all loving, all compassionate, and all forgiving. So, they do not have to fear God to return to Hinduism if they desire to do so.

Many of them were surprised to find out what was written in the Bible and were happy to know something about Sanatana Dharma. As we all know very few Hindus have any idea about the richness of Hinduism. It was a pleasant surprise to find out something about their ancestors’ faith.
